Economic Development

Exciting developments are happening in the City of Henderson, Nevada!  New residents and businesses continue to locate here and add to our impressive population and commercial growth.  While most are familiar with Las Vegas, many are not as knowledgeable about the immediately adjacent areas of this growing region nearly 2 million people and the outstanding business climate offered in the City of Henderson.  Major corporations such as Levi Strauss & Company, Ocean Spray Cranberries, Ford Motor Credit, Toyota Financial and many others call Henderson home, evidence of Henderson's pro-business environment.

Southern Nevada is home to a rapidly expanding workforce as nearly 6,000 people move into the region on a monthly basis. Employees here are able to afford their own home and companies find our state's "no corporate tax" and "no personal income tax" system of great interest!

As one of the younger cities of the modern and dynamic Southwest, the City of Henderson is often referred to as the "Other Side of Southern Nevada".  Over the past 20 years, the City has grown in an orderly and efficient manner due in part to the efforts of private citizens and city leaders working together to build an ideal community that is conducive to business, the entrepreneurial spirit, and a high quality of life.  With new residents and businesses moving to Henderson each month, it is truly "A Place to Call Home".

Demographics

The City's demographic profile and community statistics are very impressive by most standards.  Henderson was recognized as the nation's fastest growing large city from 1990-1998 by the U.S. Census Bureau.  The City's population of 269,826 (May, 2008) now ranks Henderson as the second largest city in the State of Nevada and comparable in size to Irvine, CA and Chandler, AZ.

Geography

Henderson, at an average elevation of 1,940 feet, is ideally situated in the southern rim of the Las Vegas Valley, just 7 miles southeast of the famous Las Vegas Strip and minutes away from McCarran International Airport.  Major highways serving Henderson include I-15, US 95, US 93, and Highway 146.  I-15 provides immediate east-west access from California to the East Coast via I-80, I-70, and I-40, as well as north-south access from Mexico to Canada via I-15.

Within the U.S. Southwest, Henderson is conveniently located to serve major southwestern markets.  Henderson is approximately 50 miles from the California State line and 234 miles from Los Angeles.

Homes to suit any family's needs and budget can be found throughout Henderson's established neighborhoods and master-planned communities. Residents also enjoy the area's inviting climate.
