Economic Development

Incentives

Nevada's attractive tax climate is complemented by limited incentives to attract companies that create diversified, well-paying employment opportunities for citizens.  Local businesses planning expansion programs which will create additional new jobs may also benefit from these programs.  Highlighted briefly below are programs of interest. Companies are encouraged to verify current eligibility requirements early in the relocation or expansion process.

Sales & Use Tax Abatement Program
An abatement of sales and use tax on eligible machinery and equipment may be provided to businesses whose operations are consistent with Nevada's state plan for economic diversification and development.  Businesses must meet qualification criteria as determined by the State of Nevada Commission on Economic Development (CED).  Eligibility criteria includes, but is not limited to: a commitment to doing business in Nevada, job creation, provision of a medial insurance plan, capital investment and average hourly wage requirements.

Sales & Use Tax Deferral Program
The State of Nevada may offer a sales and use tax deferment to qualified industries that purchase specific types of capital equipment in excess of $100,000.  Businesses must meet qualification criteria as determined by the State of Nevada Commission on Economic Development (CED).

Personal Property Tax Abatement
Partial personal property tax abatements may be obtained by new and expanding businesses that meet the overall objectives of the state plan for economic diversification and development.  In order to qualify, businesses must meet a number of statutory requirements that have been established by the State of Nevada Commission on Economic Development (CED).

Modified Business Tax Abatement
The Modified Business Tax Abatement Program provides a partial abatement of the applicable tax to qualified new businesses and local businesses that are expanding.  Qualification criteria are determined by the State of Nevada Commission on Economic Development (CED).

The City of Henderson, subject to the minimum requirements listed below, can provide for a partial exemption from the payment of the Public Utilities License Fee tax for gas and/or electricity:
