Intersection Lane Closures to Occur Wednesday and Thursday Evenings

Henderson, Nev. – On Wednesday, Oct. 24, the southbound lanes at the Sunset Road and Mountain Vista Street intersection will be closed at approximately 9 p.m. Southbound traffic will be detoured at Olympic Avenue to Athenian Drive and then onto Sunset Road to the free right turn. Northbound traffic will be reduced to one lane. The southbound and additional northbound lanes will reopen by 5:30 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 25.
At approximately 9 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 25, northbound travel will be reduced to one lane, with all lanes reopening by 5:30 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 26.
All lanes will be closed for eastbound and westbound travel on both Wednesday and Thursday from approximately 9 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. Traffic will be detoured at Valle Verde Drive, Sunset Way, Olympic Avenue, and Athenian Drive.
The road work is part of a six-month project extending from Whitney Mesa Drive to Stephanie Street. The project will result in wider travel lanes and connection to the F.A.S.T. (Freeway and Arterial System of Transportation) system. The work includes removal and replacement of the road surface, medians, curbs, storm drains, conduit and traffic signals. Southwest Gas will also be constructing infrastructure improvements along Sunset Road during the same timeframe as this road improvement project. The Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada (RTC) funded a significant portion of the $3.2 million improvements, with the city of Henderson providing approximately $86,000 toward the project.
