Henderson, Nev. – The City of Henderson launched online payment services at cityofhenderson.com for permit and business license fees, becoming the first in the valley to develop an E-commerce online permit payment process. Permit fees can now be paid online increasing customer convenience combined with the already established capability to track the status of their projects throughout the review process.
For business licensees1, the only trip that business owners need to make to City Hall is to submit the initial application. Business license renewal fees can be paid online as long as the business license remains current, eliminating future trips to City offices to renew.
These new services can potentially equate to customers eliminating an estimated 4,800 miles traveled on trips to City Hall equivalent to 320 gallons of gas, in addition to their valuable time.
“We’ve always been committed to providing the best services possible to the residents and businesses within the City of Henderson. This is another example of that commitment,” said Henderson Mayor James B. Gibson. “Through online payment for permits, business licenses and other important services that people would normally have to come to City Hall for, we hope to make normal interactions with city government quicker, more convenient and ultimately better suited to meeting the needs of our people.”
Henderson’s Development Services Center developed this online payment service for customer convenience. Customers can now pay permit fees, print permits, view the status of their project including inspection history, schedule inspections, and estimate fees all in one easy to use location at cityofhenderson.com. All permits require an initial plan submittal and payment in person; however, once the plan review is complete any additional fees assessed to a project can be paid online and the permit printed locally saving a trip to City Hall to carry out the transaction. Applicant’s log in to the online payment system from their home or office and can make payments with a MasterCard, Visa or Discover credit card. The online payment service is made through a secure and encrypted site. Customers receive an added benefit of not being charged additional credit-card transaction processing fees.
“We are always researching ways to enhance our customer service and I compliment staff on how they’ve worked closely with the building community in developing this new E-commerce application,” said City Manager Mary Kay Peck. “We’ve leveraged our staff expertise and technology to provide better customer service and increase the effectiveness of our new, improved Web site.”
The online payment service was designed, tested and implemented by the City’s Department of Information Technology. As a result of in-house development the City will not incur any monthly maintenance charges and the process was completed in less time using existing resources rather than paying an outside company to develop the program. Transactions are processed using PayPal’s technology and secure servers.
