Henderson Police
National Night Out 2008
Residents through out the city of Henderson gathered on Aug. 5 for
National Night Out 2008 at the
Henderson Events Plaza showcasing our community's resolve against
crime. This year's National Night Out in Henderson was the most successful in
recent years with more than 5,000 people participating.
The Henderson Police Department would like to thank all of the residents who came out to meet their neighbors and learn about crime prevention during this year's event. National Night Out is an annual event held across the country involving police departments, civic groups, community organizations, local governments, and other, showing criminals that residents are active in making their neighborhoods safe.
"Henderson residents have proven that National Night Out is a fun and effective way to learn about crime prevention, partner with the Police Department, and meet their neighbors," said Richard Perkins, Henderson Police Chief. "The benefit of getting to know your neighbors extends well beyond just one night out of the year. When you know your neighbors, you instinctively keep an eye out for each other."
National Night Out is not the only day of the year people should get to know their neighbors and learn about crime prevention. The Henderson Police Department has various programs available through out the year at the Community Relations Unit.
