Preventing water waste is an important part of our community's water conservation efforts, and we appreciate your helping us to identify and correct potential water waste. Many times residents or businesses are unaware that they are wasting water, and will quickly make necessary repairs or changes in their watering habits once they are notified of the occurrence of water waste.
What is Water Waste?

Common examples of water waste are:
Running a sprinkler system too long, which allows excess water that cannot be absorbed quickly by our dry desert soil to flow into the street
Non-compliance with watering group restrictions, such as lawn watering on the wrong day
Non-compliance with time of day restrictions, which do not allow lawn watering between the hours of 11 a.m. through 7 p.m. May 1 through September 30
Draining a swimming pool or spa into the street rather than the sanitary sewer system
Not fixing a broken sprinkler head or water leak
In more general terms, water waste is defined in the Henderson Municipal Ordinance Title 14.14.030 as follows.
Allowing water to flow or spray into a street, alley, right-of-way, gutter or drain in a steady stream of flow during the course of a period of five minutes or more
Failure to repair a water leak
